Many Coloradans want to save energy and money at home. They want to lower their energy bills. They want cut the amount of electricity they use. Often they don’t know how.
Since their inception more than 70 years ago, electric co-ops have been helping their members with that information. As far back as the 1940s, newsletters from the local co-ops explained the more efficient way to use electricity. The co-ops’ magazine, Colorado Country Life, has been providing energy use tips since it was founded in 1952.
And now, through the Internet, electric co-ops are sharing energy efficiency information with more than their members. They are providing it to anyone interested who visits their websites.
One of the most helpful websites is togetherwesave.com, which offers an animated tour of a typical home with information on what can be altered, added to or updated to cut energy use and cost. There are also videos to actually demonstrate how to improve a home. For example, this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHO1ugDet7s&feature=youtu.be) explains how to caulk a home to more it more air tight and better prepared for the coming cold weather.
All of this information is provided through the cooperative efforts of electric cooperatives who have banded together under the Touchstone Energy banner.
